ALPHARETTA, GA — Antwuan Brown, 39, of Alpharetta, Georgia, has been charged with possession with intent to distribute fentanyl following a significant drug bust on March 21, 2025. Authorities recovered approximately 240,000 fentanyl pills and 4.5 kilograms of fentanyl powder during a joint operation led by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)’s High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) program and the Sandy Springs Police Department.
The operation targeted an apartment and vehicle in Sandy Springs, where law enforcement officers discovered a pill press containing fentanyl powder, as well as two firearms inside the apartment. Upon searching the scene, officers located Brown, who had a key to the vehicle of interest in his pocket. The key led authorities to a nearby parking deck, where they recovered the fentanyl pills, fentanyl powder, and additional quantities of cocaine and methamphetamine inside the vehicle.
Brown was taken into custody at the scene and charged with possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and other related charges. In a statement, Acting U.S. Attorney Richard S. Moultrie, Jr. praised the diligent work of federal and local law enforcement partners, emphasizing that the seizure of such a large amount of deadly fentanyl could potentially save countless lives.
“We are committed to targeting those who seek to poison our communities with deadly substances like fentanyl,” said Moultrie, reaffirming the U.S. Attorney’s Office’s commitment to working alongside law enforcement agencies to combat the fentanyl crisis.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the full scope of Brown’s alleged drug trafficking operation. Brown is currently facing federal charges, and the case will proceed through the judicial system.
As always, the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
