Allison Copley Charged in $1.8K Pokémon Card Theft

Virginia woman faces felony in Wake County incidents

APEX, N.C. (WNCN) — A Virginia woman is facing multiple charges after allegedly stealing nearly $2,000 worth of Pokémon cards from two Wake County locations.

According to the Cary Police Department, 23-year-old Allison Mary Copley of Clarksville, Virginia, was arrested on July 1. She was accused of attempting to steal $153 worth of Pokémon cards from Triangle Area Trading Cards that same day. She was charged with shoplifting concealment of goods and released on a written promise to appear in court.

A week later, on July 8, Copley was arrested again in connection with a June 14 incident in Apex. Warrants show she allegedly stole $1,238 worth of Pokémon cards from Vaulted Buy Sell Trade and an additional $436 worth from a person at the business.

In total, Copley is accused of stealing $1,827 in merchandise.

She now faces charges of felony larceny and misdemeanor larceny related to the Apex theft. According to court records, no bond was issued for the June 14 charges. Copley is scheduled to appear in Wake County Court on Wednesday afternoon.
