LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. — A man has been arrested after deputies say he drove off with a Porsche he was hired to transport to another state.

According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, the case began when a victim reported that he had hired a company on March 18 to ship his red 2026 Porsche 911 and two Honda scooters to Michigan.

Two days later, the shipping company informed the victim that the transport had been stopped by police. However, the victim continued receiving updates showing that the Porsche was being actively driven.

Deputies later located the vehicle at a DMV office in Lehigh Acres, along with the driver, identified as 29-year-old Alfonso Estrada Avila.

Authorities said Estrada Avila told them he removed the Porsche from the trailer and drove it because it was smaller and more convenient than his own vehicle while he went to obtain a new license.

Deputies also found the trailer nearby with the victim’s two scooters still inside.

Estrada Avila was arrested and charged with three counts of grand theft auto.
