ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A New Mexico man, Alexander Ortiz, has been found guilty of murdering his girlfriend, Alianna Farfan, during a domestic dispute in January 2024.

According to court documents, Ortiz shot Farfan inside a bedroom during an argument. Following the shooting, Ortiz fled the scene by jumping out of a window, police said.

Just days after Farfan’s death, Ortiz was also accused of fatally shooting Nicole Maldonado at the Adam Food Market.

During a February court hearing, tensions escalated when Farfan’s family members jumped a courtroom partition and physically attacked Ortiz.

Ortiz now faces a minimum sentence of life in prison for the murder conviction.
