CLOVIS, N.M. (KFDA) – Two teenagers were hospitalized after an early morning shooting near a house party in Clovis, New Mexico. The Clovis Police Department has arrested 21-year-old Alan Flores in connection with the incident.
At approximately 5:30 a.m. on August 6, police received a 911 call from inside a moving vehicle. The victims — an 18-year-old woman and a 17-year-old juvenile — were on their way to Plains Regional Medical Center with gunshot wounds to their heads and upper bodies.
According to the victims, the shooting occurred as they left a party at a home on the 900 block of Piersall Avenue. An argument had broken out earlier at the gathering, and after returning to the house, one of the victims recognized a teen girl and a man named “Alan.” Moments later, the man allegedly raised a rifle and opened fire on their vehicle.
Responding officers found Alan Flores standing in the roadway near several bullet casings. A search warrant executed at the residence led to the discovery of an AK-pattern rifle chambered in 7.62x39mm with two magazines. The ammunition matched the casings at the scene.
Flores was taken into custody and charged with:
Shooting at a motor vehicle resulting in great bodily harm (2nd-degree felony)
Aggravated battery with a deadly weapon (3rd-degree felony)
He was booked into the Curry County Detention Center. Police also interviewed a 17-year-old girl associated with the home and a 20-year-old woman who arrived at the scene.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
