The Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) arrested two men on Tuesday for allegedly stealing a DJ system in Chhota Udepur. The accused have been identified as Akshay Rathwa and Devang Rathwa, both residents of the city.
Police intercepted a car near Kapurai Crossroads in which the duo was travelling. When questioned about the DJ system they were carrying, they failed to provide a satisfactory explanation. Upon further interrogation, the men admitted to stealing the equipment from a godown in Dhaniyavi village near Tarsali about a week ago.
According to authorities, the accused intended to start a DJ business but lacked the funds to purchase a system legally. They reportedly posed as customers and visited several shops to conduct a recce before executing the theft.
The DCB seized the stolen DJ system, valued at Rs5 lakh, from the duo. Police records also indicate that Akshay Rathwa has prior cases under the Prohibition Act registered against him in Chhota Udepur.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and police are examining whether the accused may be involved in similar thefts in the region.
