A 30-year-old man, Akhil, from Vembilly near Angamaly, was arrested on Tuesday for possession of 3.2 grams of synthetic drugs. The arrest followed a coordinated operation by the rural district anti-narcotics squad and Angamaly police.
Police stated that intelligence received by the district police chief prompted increased surveillance and inspections, ultimately leading to Akhil’s apprehension.
According to officials, Akhil allegedly transported the MDMA from Bengaluru by bus. During a detailed check, officers discovered the drugs cleverly hidden inside a face cream container, concealed between layers of lotion, in an attempt to evade detection. The sophistication of the concealment suggested deliberate planning to bypass routine security checks.
The operation was supervised by Deputy Superintendents J Umesh Kumar and T R Rajesh, with A Ramesh overseeing the field investigation.
Police have confirmed that further inquiries are ongoing to trace the source of the drugs and investigate whether Akhil is connected to a larger narcotics network.
