In a harrowing turn of events, a minor girl from Guwahati has accused her father’s friend, Ajay Binash Agarwal—also known as Srilal Binash—of repeatedly sexually abusing her. This shocking revelation came to light during an investigation into a separate domestic violence case filed by her stepmother.
The All Women Police Station in Panbazar registered the matter under Suo Moto Case No. 59/25. Initially, the stepmother had filed a complaint against the girl’s father for physical abuse. However, during police questioning, the visibly distressed girl confided in officers about the prolonged abuse she allegedly suffered at the hands of Agarwal.
Ajay, a resident of Kolkata, was a regular visitor to the family’s home in Guwahati’s Kamakhya area. According to the victim, he targeted moments when no other family members were present to commit the assaults. The girl’s unexpected disclosure led officers to act swiftly. A police team was dispatched to Kolkata, where Ajay was apprehended and brought back to Guwahati for further investigation.
In connection with the domestic violence case, the girl’s father has also been taken into custody. Authorities have served a notice under Section 21(1) of the POCSO Act to the victim’s mother. Despite allegedly knowing about the incidents, she neither filed a complaint nor cooperated with the investigation. Officials report that she refused to acknowledge the abuse and declined to lodge an FIR against Ajay.
Both accused individuals are currently in police custody as the investigation continues.
