Two men, Ajay Banoda and Sonu Pachole, were arrested in Indore on Monday after police seized over 52 grams of brown sugar from their possession.
According to Additional DCP Rajesh Dandotiya, the Crime Branch was conducting routine checks near the government hospital behind DRP Line on the main road when officers noticed a suspicious auto-rickshaw. The two men inside appeared nervous, prompting the team to stop the vehicle.
Upon questioning, Banoda and Pachole admitted to being drug addicts who purchased narcotics at low prices to resell at higher rates, funding their habit. Police confiscated 52.54 grams of brown sugar and seized the auto-rickshaw. A case was registered under Section 8/21 of the NDPS Act, with further legal action underway.
In a separate operation at Navlakha Bus Stand, Crime Branch officials caught Lakhan alias Golu Silawat and Akash Silawat selling country liquor from crates. The accused admitted to funding their addiction by selling illegal liquor. Police seized 14 crates containing 126 bulk liters of liquor and filed a case under Section 34(2) of the Excise Act.
