GAITHERSBURG, MD — A 27-year-old Gaithersburg man has been arrested after allegedly stealing valuables from a home where he was hired to provide professional organizing services.

Police identified the suspect as Aissa Mahdi Ould Brahim. The investigation began after a homeowner in the 5000 block of Del Ray Avenue in Bethesda reported missing property on January 22, 2026.

According to authorities, Brahim was inside the residence around 3 p.m. providing organizing services, including folding and putting away clothing. The homeowner briefly left to pick up her child and, upon returning, noticed Brahim quickly departing for the day. She later discovered a gold necklace was missing and filed a report with officers at the 2nd District Station in Bethesda.

Investigators determined that Brahim had allegedly sold the stolen necklace through Facebook Marketplace. After learning the item was stolen, the buyer returned it to the victim.

Further investigation revealed that clothing items, gift cards, and cash were also allegedly taken from the home that same day.

Police obtained an arrest warrant charging Brahim with one count of theft ranging from $25,000 to under $100,000. A search warrant executed at his residence resulted in the recovery of items considered evidentiary.

Brahim was arrested on February 4, 2026, and transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit. He was later released on a $7,500 unsecured personal bond.
