Ahilyanagar police arrested two criminals from Jalna and rescued 60-year-old Sitaram Khanjode, who had been abducted from Washim district, following a high-speed chase on Sunday night.
Incident Details
The suspects, Rahul Dilip Mhaske (32) and Satish alias Balu Vinayak Jadhav (25), were intercepted in the MIDC area around 10 pm. The duo has been handed over to Washim police, and a case of abduction with intent to murder and cheating was registered at Risod police station. The accused had also allegedly robbed another person of Rs 22,000 while fleeing.
Investigation
Washim police tracked the suspects and alerted Ahilyanagar SP Somnath Gharge, who directed PI Kiran Kabadi of the Local Crime Branch to set up a nakabandi. During the chase, the suspects crashed their car into a road divider in MIDC, leading to their arrest.
PI Rameshwar Chavan stated the duo is part of a gang involved in marriage frauds, in which they dupe families by accepting money, performing weddings, and fleeing with a female associate posing as the bride.
