The Agra-based Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) arrested Mohammad Gayas Ansari, a drug smuggler, on Tuesday after recovering 1.62 kg of heroin and 469 grams of smack worth an estimated Rs 3 crore.
Superintendent of Police (City), Dr. Arvind Kumar, confirmed that the ANTF had received intelligence about Ansari transporting a large quantity of heroin and smack from Mathura. The authorities swiftly acted and arrested him near a warehouse, where they found the drugs in his possession.
Ansari, a resident of Daulatpur village, Jamui district, Bihar, was planning to supply the drugs in Mathura before heading to Delhi. According to the police, Ansari has been smuggling heroin from Bihar and distributing it in surrounding areas, including Delhi, Faridabad, and Rohtak.
The arrest is part of ongoing efforts by the Agra police and the Anti-Narcotics Task Force to curb the smuggling and distribution of illicit drugs across the region. Further investigations are underway to uncover any larger networks involved.
