In a significant blow to the narcotics trade in the capital, Delhi Police have seized heroin worth over Rs4 crore and arrested three individuals, including a 23-year-old woman, during a targeted operation in the Bhalswa Dairy area.
According to DCP (Outer North) Hareshwar V Swami, the operation began with a tip-off regarding narcotics activity near Bhalswa. A raiding team was deployed, which apprehended a woman from Kalandra Colony service road, recovering 300 grams of heroin—a quantity considered commercial under the NDPS Act.
The woman was identified as Afsana, a resident of Jahangirpuri, northwest Delhi. She was arrested and a case registered against her.
Following her sustained interrogation, the police conducted further raids and arrested two key suppliers—Narender (37) and his wife Jyoti alias Manshi (35)—from Raj Kanhiya Apartment, Himgiri Enclave, Burari.
Narender was caught near the Transport Authority office in Burari along with his Scooty, while Jyoti was nabbed from their residence. A search of their house led to the seizure of 712 grams of heroin, in addition to the 300 grams recovered from Afsana, bringing the total heroin seizure to 1.012 kg.
The confiscated heroin was packaged in varying amounts—52g, 470g, 170g, and 20g—pointing to an organized distribution method. While none of the accused had prior criminal records, police suspect they are part of a wider drug trafficking network. The investigation is ongoing to trace the full supply chain.
