MONROE, La. – A 21-year-old Monroe man, Adrian Sampson, has been arrested on 49 counts related to a series of staged car crashes and insurance fraud schemes, according to the Louisiana State Police.
Sampson faces 16 counts of insurance fraud, 16 counts of aggravated criminal damage to property, 16 counts of staging a motor vehicle collision, and one count of racketeering.
Authorities began investigating in February 2025 after receiving multiple complaints alleging that Sampson was involved in fraudulent insurance activity. The investigation revealed that between May 2024 and September 2025, Sampson allegedly planned and orchestrated multiple vehicle collisions to submit false insurance claims.
Investigators say Sampson’s schemes were designed to extract payouts from insurers and victims, resulting in an estimated $156,000 in fraudulent gains.
Louisiana State Police emphasized that staged crashes endanger innocent drivers and contribute to higher insurance premiums for all motorists.
The case remains under investigation, and additional arrests may be possible as officials continue to review related insurance claims.
