Adrian Moultry Arrested for Murder After Deadly Troy Shooting

22-Year-Old Faces Charges After May 3 Killing in Troy

TROY, Ala. (WSFA) – An arrest has been made following a deadly shooting on May 3 in Troy. Adrian Demond Moultry Jr., 22, of Troy, was taken into custody on Tuesday and charged with murder in connection to the shooting death of Nyreesh Amari Smith, 20, from Pike County.

The shooting occurred around 10:30 p.m. on May 3, when police responded to a disturbance in the 100 block of Dunn Circle involving a large crowd and loud noise. Upon arrival, officers reported hearing multiple gunshots. They discovered Smith on the ground suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite efforts from officers who performed CPR, Smith was pronounced dead after life-saving attempts failed.

Following an investigation, Troy Police arrested Moultry on murder charges. He was transported to the Pike County Jail, where he is being held without bond. Moultry will face an Aniah’s Law hearing for the murder charge.

The Troy Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
