LOS ANGELES, CA — After a year-long manhunt, Adrian Cameron Jr., 22, has been arrested in Los Angeles for the 2024 murder of rapper Chris King. The arrest, made during a coordinated raid by the FBI, LAPD, and Nashville’s TITANS Unit, ends months of evasion after Cameron allegedly cut off his ankle monitor and fled.
The deadly shooting took place around 2:30 a.m. in a Midtown Nashville alley near a recording studio in April 2024. During what police say was an attempted robbery, Chris King, 32, was fatally shot and another person was wounded.
Trippie Redd, a longtime friend, confirmed King’s passing in a heartfelt Instagram post: “I am so hurt rn I can’t even think I love you bro come back!!!!!”
Cameron’s arrest comes after another suspect, Amir Carroll, 19, was taken into custody earlier this year. A third suspect remains at large.
Cameron was already out on bond at the time of King’s murder, connected to a 2021 case involving the shooting death of 50-year-old Josh Evans during a drug deal gone wrong in Lebanon, Tennessee. Evans’ body was found in the Cumberland River.
Chris King was known for collaborations with stars like Keke Palmer, Machine Gun Kelly, and once lived with Justin Bieber. His final track, “Seeing Double Seeing Double,” was released days before his death.
DJ Scheme, a friend and fellow artist, also reacted online: “It’s so sad this community of artist/friends has gotten this small. All because of gun violence or drugs.”
Authorities are preparing to extradite Cameron to Tennessee, where he will face first-degree murder charges. The case raises ongoing concerns about bond policies and electronic monitoring failures, especially for high-risk offenders.
