A 30-year-old man was arrested in Dwarka, southwest Delhi, for allegedly stealing two-wheelers to use them for registering on app-based delivery platforms, police officials said on Thursday.

The accused, identified as Aditya Kumar, is a resident of Najafgarh. According to police, he did not own a vehicle and allegedly resorted to stealing motorcycles and scooters to secure employment with online delivery and transport applications as a means of earning his livelihood.

Investigators reviewed CCTV footage from Dwarka and nearby areas to track his movements. Acting on technical surveillance inputs, a police team laid a trap and apprehended him near Uttam Nagar on February 9.

During the arrest, officials recovered one stolen motorcycle and a scooter from his possession.

Police stated that with Kumar’s arrest, two motor vehicle theft cases registered at Chhawla Police Station and Bindapur Police Station have been solved.

Further investigation is underway.
