The Osun State Command of the Amotekun Corps has arrested Adegoroye Akinola, a 51-year-old man, on suspicion of defrauding nine individuals of N1.5 million.
In a statement by Public Relations Officer Idowu Yusuff, it was reported that Akinola, an indigene of Igbara Odo in Ekiti State, was taken into custody for allegedly deceiving victims in the Oluyole area of Ibadan, Oyo State, under the pretense of processing C.A.C registration and international passports.
The arrest followed a complaint lodged at the Amotekun Ayedaade Command in Gbongan. Operatives acted swiftly, tracking Akinola after he fled from Ibadan to Igbara Odo. The suspect had been evading capture by frequently changing his mobile number, complicating efforts to locate him. However, through technical analysis, Amotekun operatives pinpointed his whereabouts in Igbara Odo.
A tip-off from Akinola’s girlfriend led to his arrest after she was asked to invite him to Gbongan for a supposed business meeting.
Brig-Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi (retd.), Commander of the Osun Amotekun Corps, confirmed that the suspect has been transferred to the Oyo State Command for further action.
