n a deeply disturbing case, RM Nagar police have arrested Abhishek Kumar (24), a construction labourer from Bihar, for the sexual assault and murder of a six-year-old girl near Hoysala Nagar on January 14, 2025.
The incident occurred close to the under-construction building where the accused both worked and lived. The child, whose parents are also migrant labourers, was allegedly lured and assaulted before being killed near her home. Her father works as a security guard, while her mother is employed as a domestic help.
According to police sources, the accused had been living in the area temporarily and exploited his proximity to the victim’s family to commit the crime. He was arrested shortly after the incident, and charges under the POCSO Act, along with murder and sexual assault sections, have been invoked.
The case has sparked public outrage and calls for swift justice. Police are continuing the investigation and preparing a detailed charge sheet.
