Sayre, Pa. — A Sayre man who deceived customers and unlawfully used financial accounts has been sentenced following multiple fraud convictions.

Andrew W. Vanderpool, 32, was ordered to serve 60 days in the Bradford County Correctional Facility, followed by two years in the county’s Treatment Court Program. He will also be placed on probation for 12 years and must pay $32,000 in restitution to his victims.

Vanderpool was convicted on two felony counts of access device fraud and theft by deception, according to court records.

Sayre Borough Police Officer Seth Murrelle filed the initial charges after discovering that Vanderpool used two different credit cards and several cash-based payment apps to purchase materials for a construction job he claimed to be working on. Investigators later determined the funds were not used for any legitimate construction-related purpose.

In a separate incident, police learned Vanderpool had taken personal checks belonging to another individual, wrote them out to himself and cashed them without authorization.

Court officials said Vanderpool will be required to repay the stolen funds as restitution. If he fails to meet the terms of his supervision or does not comply with restitution payments, he could be returned to county jail or face resentencing that may include state prison time.
