Ghazipur police successfully apprehended a murder suspect, Om Singh, in a dramatic encounter in the Gahmar police station area on Friday night. The operation, part of an ongoing drive against crime, led to the seizure of a country-made .315 bore pistol and an empty cartridge.
The incident occurred when Gahmar SO Pramod Kumar Singh and his team received intelligence that the wanted suspect, involved in a recent murder case, was present in the area and attempting to flee.
As police approached Mathiya Ghat, Om Singh reportedly fired at the officers. The police returned fire, injuring him in the left leg. He was immediately rushed to the district CHC Bhadaura for medical treatment.
Om Singh, a resident of Gahmar Patti Kheluray village, is now in custody, and legal proceedings have been initiated following the encounter. The police operation has been hailed as a significant step in their campaign against criminals in the district.
