The district police arrested four persons in separate incidents while intensifying their crackdown on drug trafficking and substance abuse, officials said on Sunday.
In a major seizure, Mehtiana police arrested three suspects and recovered 77 grams of heroin. SHO Mehtiana Inspector Rajinder Singh said that ASI Kaushal Chander, in charge of the Ajnoha police post, along with police personnel, was on routine patrol duty in Ajnoha village when they intercepted a car on Wadhan Road.
During the search of the vehicle, police recovered 77 grams of heroin, 48 cut pieces used for preparing drug packets, and silver paper, indicating drug distribution activity.
In another incident, police apprehended a youth consuming drugs on the road between Phuglana village and Ahrana Kalan. The accused was identified as Balwinder Singh.
Meanwhile, Hajipur police registered a separate case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act against another youth as part of the ongoing anti-drug drive.
Police said investigations are underway to identify suppliers and dismantle the broader drug network operating in the region.
