PHUKET, Thailand — Police arrested a Thai man and a Norwegian woman at a luxury villa in Muang district on Sunday evening on suspicion of selling illegal drugs, authorities reported.
Pol Col Somsak Thongkliang, chief of Wichit Police, said the suspects, identified only as Kanok, 37, and Mette, 54, were apprehended around 9:30 p.m. at a villa in Tambon Wichit.
Officers seized 32.78 grams of heroin, 0.64 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 44 methamphetamine pills, a digital scale, equipment used for crystal meth consumption, and 100,000 baht in cash. Tests also showed both suspects’ urine samples were positive for drug use.
Police said the arrests came after tips from other drug dealers and users in Phuket who reported purchasing drugs from the couple.
In addition to drug charges, Mette was cited for overstaying her visa. Authorities did not release the suspects’ full names and confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
