A New Jersey man is facing multiple charges after police say he crashed a 1981 DeLorean into a parked Toyota while carrying dozens of packaged bags of cocaine. The collision happened shortly after noon and occurred in full view of a New Milford police officer, prompting an immediate search of the vehicle.
Police identified the driver as 33-year-old Luke Randall. Though he appeared injured after the crash, officers reported he declined medical treatment. Additional officers arrived to assist and searched the DeLorean, where they found vodka bottles and 87 individually packaged bags of cocaine. A records check revealed Randall had been charged with driving under the influence earlier in the month and was wanted in Harrington Park for careless driving, throwing objects from a vehicle, and unlicensed operation.
Randall was arrested at the scene and later taken to a hospital for evaluation. His stainless-steel DeLorean, widely recognized for its iconic design and its appearance in the “Back to the Future” films, sustained significant damage in the collision.
The incident has also renewed attention on the DeLorean brand’s complicated past. The company’s founder, John DeLorean, became infamous after facing federal drug trafficking charges in 1982, a case that remains one of the most widely discussed controversies in automotive history.
Randall now faces his own set of serious legal consequences following the crash, which left one classic car heavily damaged and added to an already growing list of charges against him.
