NEWTON COUNTY — A Newton County jury on Wednesday convicted Ronnie Grier on multiple sex-related charges involving children, marking another significant case during a busy week in county court.
Grier was found guilty of one count of aggravated sexual battery, two counts of child molestation, and two counts of sexual battery against a child under the age of 16.
According to a news release from the Newton County District Attorney’s Office, the case began in 2022 when the Newton County Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation after Grier made incriminating admissions during an interview with an investigator.
Grier was initially released on bond following his arrest, but the court later revoked his bond after discovering he had violated conditions involving contact with the victim and a witness, the release stated.
Grier is currently in custody and will be sentenced at a later date.
