by Sophia Bennett

Andre Wright Jr., a 29-year-old Evansville man, has been sentenced to three years in federal prison after pleading guilty to possession with intent to distribute fentanyl.

The investigation into Wright’s activities began after authorities received tips in late 2022 that he was involved in selling large quantities of fentanyl-laced pills. The case culminated in a drug bust outside Wright’s home, where police caught him making a drug deal.

A subsequent search of Wright’s home led to the discovery of 2,000 counterfeit fentanyl pills, a digital scale, a semiautomatic handgun, ammunition, plastic bags, and $435 in cash.

Following his conviction, Wright was sentenced to three years in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release.
