Delhi Police Busts Cyber Fraud, 3 Accused Arrested

Job seekers duped with fake overseas offers

by Ananya Mehta

Delhi Police have dismantled an interstate cyber fraud syndicate, arresting three individuals accused of duping job seekers by offering fake overseas employment opportunities.

During the operation, authorities recovered six mobile phones, two laptops, and Rs 50,000 linked to the scam.

According to the South-West District Police, the Cyber Police Station team arrested Ketan Deepak Kumar (24) from Gujarat, Sanjib Mondal (34) from West Bengal, and Ravi Kumar Mishra (29) from Gurugram.

The trio allegedly lured job seekers with promises of overseas placements. The stolen money was routed through mule bank accounts, facilitated by Mishra, who worked as a banker.

The case surfaced after A.K. Sahai, a COVID-19-affected job seeker, contacted authorities. He had responded to a WhatsApp group named ‘FLYABROAD 6’, where an individual posing as Edutech consultant Aades Srivastava promised jobs abroad. Sahai paid Rs 1.80 lakh for a Chef/Cook visa to New Zealand, but the documents and offer letter turned out to be fake.

FIR No. 101/25 was registered on 07.10.25 under Sections 318(4)/319(2) and 61(2) BNS, PS Cyber/SW. A special investigation team led by Inspector Pravesh Kaushik and ACP Vijay Pal Tomar traced financial transactions and device locations.

Ketan Deepak Kumar, a B.Tech (CS) dropout and travel agent, coordinated the accounts and funds. Sanjib Mondal, an MBA, impersonated Edutech staff and convinced victims to transfer money. Ravi Kumar Mishra, a bank assistant manager, opened mule accounts using forged documents and facilitated money laundering.

The accused were arrested between November 9 and 17 from Rishikesh, Kolkata, and Gurugram, effectively ending the syndicate’s operations, police said.
