The Tilak Nagar police have filed a case against seven individuals, including Peter Marian Lopes, the director of Bassein Brick Co Pvt Ltd, in connection with a serious cheating and forgery case. The case involves a disputed investment of Rs 1.96 crore and has sparked a legal battle within the company. The complaint was filed by 66-year-old Govindji Vikmani, a businessman and former director of the company, who resides in Chembur.
Vikmani, who served as a director of Bassein Brick Co Pvt Ltd from 2010 to 2020, claims that the company was originally established in 1947 by Marian Philip Lopes, who served as its director and shareholder. Following Marian’s death, ownership and directorship of the company were transferred to his daughter Kosu Marian Lopes and son Peter Marian Lopes.
Vikmani, who was involved in land acquisition and real estate development, joined the company in 2017 to help seek investors. He was appointed as a director and given 25 shares, along with a power of attorney. However, Vikmani alleges that between 2010 and 2012, he personally invested Rs 1.96 crore to clear the company’s land in Vasai and help restore the company’s operations.
Despite his financial contribution, Vikmani claims that the current directors, including Peter and Kosu Lopes, forged his signature and fabricated resignation documents to unlawfully remove him from his directorship. He further alleges that minutes of meetings and resolutions were falsified to show a reduction in his shareholding.
The accused individuals named in the FIR include Peter Lopes, Annie Peter Lopes, Ignatius Marian Lopes, Mohammad Akbar, Prabhakar Kamble, Sayyed Parvez Hussain, and others. They face serious charges under the Indian Penal Code, including cheating, criminal conspiracy, and forgery.
