Ballia police on Thursday arrested three individuals allegedly involved in the murder of a youth and concealing his body on November 22. The arrested are Piyush Kumar Singh, Anish Kumar Singh, and Ankur Singh, residents of Majhauwa village under Haldi police station. They allegedly killed Ajit Kumar Singh alias Bodha and dumped his body into the Ganga near Gangapur Ghat, tied to his own motorcycle.

The case came to light after Chandan Kumar Singh, a resident of Parsiya village, filed a complaint stating that his brother Ajit, who worked in the tent business, had set up tents at a wedding on November 22 for the sister of Anish Kumar Singh in Majhauwa village. Around 1 am, a dispute arose over the color of chair and sofa covers, following which Piyush, Anish, and Ankur allegedly killed Ajit and disposed of his body in the river.

The police registered a case under sections 103(1) and 238A BNS and launched an investigation. On Thursday, SHO Rajendra Prasad Singh led a police team to search for the accused. Acting on a tip-off, officers found them near Shanti Nagar intersection on the road to Vasudharpah village and successfully apprehended them.

Ballia SP Omveer Singh confirmed the arrests and stated that the accused were produced before the court for further proceedings.
