Police have arrested Nikhil Yadav, the main accused in the murder of Arjun Yadav, RJD’s district labour cell president, who was shot dead near the Chausa power plant under Mufassil police station on May 26. His associate, Vicky Upadhyay, has also been taken into custody.

Addressing a press conference on Friday, SP Shubham Arya revealed that a large cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from the accused’s hideout. An SIT led by SDPO Gaurav Pandey was formed to investigate the case. Six accused had been arrested earlier, but Nikhil and Vicky were absconding. Acting on a tip-off that Nikhil had come to Buxar for treatment, the SIT apprehended him from ITI Road.

During interrogation, Nikhil confessed to the crime and disclosed that the weapons used in the murder were hidden at Vicky’s house in Sukarwalia village, under Itadhi police station. A subsequent raid led to the recovery of a country-made pistol, a single-barrel rifle, 80 empty cartridges, and six live rounds.

Vicky has been booked at Itadhi police station and admitted his involvement in the killing. Nikhil, a resident of Parsapur in Ghazipur district (UP), has over 13 serious criminal cases in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, including attempted murder, robbery, and gang-related offenses. The murder of Arjun Yadav is his latest crime, authorities confirmed.
