A Vinemont man, Cathel Monroe Westmoreland, has been booked into the Winston County Jail on multiple drug-related charges following a traffic stop in Morgan County earlier this month.
On Nov. 5, deputies observed Westmoreland driving suspiciously, prompting a search of his vehicle. Authorities found methamphetamine, prescription pills, burnt marijuana items, and drug paraphernalia. Westmoreland also admitted to possessing a firearm, which was removed during the search.
He faces charges including trafficking methamphetamine, possession of controlled substances without a prescription, and possession of drug paraphernalia. A female passenger in the vehicle was also found with prescription pills but claimed partial prescriptions.
Both individuals were taken into custody. Westmoreland bonded out of Morgan County Jail two days later and was later transferred to the Winston County Jail.
