Two men have been arrested and charged following the fatal shooting of 22-year-old Maria De La Rosa in Northridge, Los Angeles.
De La Rosa was sitting in a parked car with friends early on November 22 when Francisco Gaytan, 27, and Benny Lincon Gomez, 27, approached and attempted to rob them near Bryant Street east of Tampa Avenue. As the victims tried to flee, the suspects opened fire, fatally wounding De La Rosa.
The LAPD/FBI Fugitive Task Force, with gang enforcement units and Valley Bureau homicide detectives, quickly identified and arrested the two suspects.
Francisco Gaytan faces charges of murder with special circumstances and attempted robbery. He is held without bail.
Benny Lincon Gomez faces identical charges and is also held without bail.
Authorities confirmed that the fatal shooting occurred during the robbery attempt, following earlier reports where the motive was unclear.
