TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) — A Crawfordville man has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to meth distribution and illegal firearm possession, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida.
44-year-old Jason Rigdon was arrested after investigators received information in February suggesting he was trafficking methamphetamine and illegal firearms. Federal officials said undercover agents conducted a series of controlled buys, during which Rigdon sold both meth and a handgun.
Following those operations, investigators executed a search warrant at Rigdon’s home in March. During the search, authorities recovered 13 firearms, including two reported stolen, along with methamphetamine and ammunition. Additional evidence was also found in the vehicle Rigdon was driving at the time of his arrest.
The case was the result of a joint investigation by the Leon County Sheriff’s Office, Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office, the Tallahassee Police Department, and several federal agencies.
Rigdon’s federal conviction and lengthy sentence reflect ongoing regional efforts to combat drug trafficking and armed repeat offenders.
