Youths trafficked to SE Asia for forced cybercrime

The Cyber Center of Excellence of the Gujarat Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested a Vadodara-based woman, Payal Chauhan, on Tuesday for allegedly luring youths into cyber slavery in Southeast Asian countries.

According to the Gujarat CID, Chauhan, working as a sub-agent, enticed young people from the state with promises of lucrative jobs abroad. Once the victims were abroad, they were reportedly handed over to the Chinese cyber mafia, where they were forced to commit cybercrime.

This arrest comes in connection with a larger investigation in which at least five other individuals, including the kingpin, have already been apprehended. The CID is continuing to probe the network to identify additional victims and bring the organizers to justice.
