A 28-year-old man from South London has been sentenced to five years and seven months in prison following his arrest during a vehicle stop in Crawley.
Jamie Gabriel, of Norwood, was under surveillance by plain-clothes officers who observed him approaching known drug users and handing over small packages. When the vehicle he was travelling in was stopped, police found cannabis inside the car and cocaine on his person.
Gabriel pleaded guilty at Lewes Crown Court on November 12 to:
Possession of a Class B drug (cannabis)
Possession of Class A drugs (crack cocaine and heroin) with intent to supply
Being concerned in the supply of those Class A drugs
During sentencing, evidence from Gabriel’s phone reportedly linked him to a wider drug supply network operating in Crawley.
Detective Inspector Oli Robinson said:
“Officers have been working hard to disrupt the supply of drugs which cause significant harm in our communities. We are pleased that an offender selling a significant quantity of drugs has been taken off our streets. The sentence reflects his third conviction for drug supply matters.”
Gabriel’s sentence serves as a warning that persistent drug offenders will face substantial prison terms.
