WATERBURY, Conn. (WFSB) — A coordinated drug investigation in Waterbury led to the arrest of Gerardo Guzman, 36, and the seizure of fentanyl, crack cocaine, and ammunition from a local bodega on Charles Street.

On November 20, the Waterbury Police Department, working with the DEA New Haven District Office, executed multiple search and seizure warrants, including one at 98 Charles Street, a bodega, as well as warrants for Guzman and a black BMW.

During the operation, officers recovered:

76.17 grams of fentanyl

Ammunition and drug paraphernalia

Guzman, a convicted felon, was charged with operating a drug factory, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, possession of ½ oz. or more of cocaine, and criminal possession of firearm/ammunition, which he is legally prohibited from possessing.

Authorities said the operation is part of ongoing efforts to disrupt drug trafficking and reduce illegal firearms and narcotics in the Waterbury area.
