MADISON COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — A Madison County man has been arrested on multiple drug trafficking charges after deputies found more than 30 grams of fentanyl during a search, according to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.
On November 24, Robert Gene Carroll, 49, was arrested and charged with drug trafficking, possession with intent to distribute, possession of a controlled substance, first-degree possession of marijuana, and second-degree possession of stolen property.
The arrest followed an investigation that began with a traffic stop by the MCSO Street Crimes Unit near Oakwood Avenue and Blue Springs Road. Information gathered from that stop prompted detectives to obtain a search warrant for a hotel room at 2209 North Memorial Parkway.
During the search, deputies found:
36.2 grams of fentanyl
16.3 grams of cocaine
6.5 grams of methamphetamine
33.3 grams of marijuana
A stolen firearm
Carroll was taken into custody and booked into the Madison County Jail, where he is being held on a $1,504,000 bond.
Sheriff Kevin Turner emphasized the importance of the arrest, stating, “Fentanyl is killing people every single day, and anyone pushing this poison in Madison County should take notice. My deputies are working day in and day out to take drugs and guns off the streets… We will find you, we will shut your business down, and we will put you in jail.”
