SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The New York State Police have arrested Shaquille B. Muhammad, a Syracuse Police officer, following a four-month investigation into alleged fraudulent activity at a local Lowe’s store.
According to troopers, 32-year-old Muhammad used his Lowe’s credit card to purchase more than $3,000 in merchandise over several days in January 2025. He then reportedly contacted the issuing bank, falsely claiming the charges were unauthorized, which resulted in a full refund to his account.
Muhammad turned himself in on November 20 at the State Police barracks in North Syracuse. He was charged with Grand Larceny in the Third Degree (a class D felony) and Falsifying Business Records in the First Degree (a class E felony).
He was arraigned in Onondaga County CAP Court and released on his own recognizance.
The Syracuse Police Department released a statement confirming the arrest. The State Police noted that the case is still under investigation.
