Aligarh Police have apprehended a key suspect, Sachin (33), in connection with a double murder case that occurred on October 20 in Sainthli village. Sachin, a resident of Anandpur under Jarcha police station, had been on the run since the killings of Ajaypal (55), a retired CISF officer, and his nephew Deepanshu Bhati (21).
Police sources said that Sachin was arrested near Ghantaghar following a tip-off and intelligence inputs. Authorities recovered a .315 bore country-made pistol and a spent cartridge from his possession during interrogation.
The murders arose from a local dispute over drain water between Sainthli residents. Earlier, a conflict occurred between Ajaypal and Prince at their house, escalating tensions in the village. According to a complaint filed by Dhara Singh, Ajaypal’s brother, Prince and his associates later fired on Ajaypal and Deepanshu, resulting in their deaths and injuries to three others.
Videos of the shooting circulated widely on social media, causing public outrage. Local authorities cleared a road blockade that had lasted about 1.5 hours, and several individuals were detained and questioned.
A police official stated that a case has been filed under sections 103(1) (murder), 109 (attempt to murder), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 352 (intentional insult), and 351(2) (criminal intimidation) of BNS. Sachin is reported to have an extensive criminal record in both Gautam Buddh Nagar and Aligarh districts.
Authorities continue to investigate other accomplices involved in the violent incident.
