Security forces in Assam seized narcotics valued at approximately Rs 9 crore and arrested three individuals in two separate operations across the Barak Valley on Thursday evening.

In the first operation, 20,000 Yaba tablets were recovered from Sahabuddin and Ilyas Ali, both residents of Basantapur in Sribhumi district. The seizure took place during a raid on Kaliganj Road, Chargola, under Sribhumi jurisdiction.

In a second operation, Assam Rifles and Cachar police intercepted a vehicle at Polilapool in Cachar district, recovering heroin valued at Rs 3 crore in the illicit market. Another resident of Sribhumi district was apprehended during this operation.

All three suspects are currently under interrogation by Sribhumi and Cachar district police to determine the source, distribution network, and accomplices involved in these drug consignments.

Authorities have emphasized that these operations are part of ongoing efforts to curb narcotics trafficking in Assam, particularly in the Barak Valley region.
