Dispur Police Bust Fake Currency & Gold Scam in Assam

Five arrested, counterfeit notes and fake gold seized

Dispur Police conducted a raid near the Zoo area following specific intelligence inputs and recovered counterfeit currency worth Rs36,45,000 from a rented house. Officers also seized a printer, specialized machine papers, and other materials allegedly used for manufacturing the fake notes.

Three individuals were apprehended in connection with the case: Sufiya Khatun of Barpeta, Mainul Ali of Bihpuria, and Mahidul Bhiyan of Barpeta.

In a separate operation, Hatigaon Police raided a rented house on Pragati Path, seizing 614 grams of fake gold items. Two suspects, Abdul Barek of Naoboicha (Lakhimpur) and Ariful Islam of Lakhipur (Goalpara), were taken into custody.

Authorities are investigating both operations to determine the source of the counterfeit currency and fake gold and to identify any larger criminal network involved.
