The Central Crime Branch’s Cyber Crime unit has arrested two additional suspects, including the alleged mastermind, in a massive nationwide online trading scam that defrauded victims of more than Rs100 crore.
The investigation began after Karthik, 36, from Perungudi, reported losing Rs1.43 crore to a fraudulent online investment application promoted on social media. Following his complaint on September 16, the CCB formed a special team to track down those behind the operation. Their efforts led to the arrest of Surya Srinivas, believed to be the mastermind, along with Dinesh, Arun Pandian, and former bank manager Seshadri Ethiraj.
The police say the network operated across multiple states, luring victims with promises of high returns on fake trading platforms.
