Two Morgan County residents have been arrested on identity theft charges after allegedly using a woman’s stolen credit card, while a third man was taken into custody in a separate forgery case involving more than $11,000, according to court records.
Cody Weston Parker, 22, of Trinity, and Jenny Elizabeth Taylor, 23, of Decatur, were each charged with identity theft by Decatur police. Jail records show Taylor is being held on a $20,000 bond, while Parker is held on a $5,300 bond with two additional failure-to-appear charges. His identity theft charge will be booked after another Decatur case is resolved.
According to a detective’s affidavit, between Sept. 25 and Oct. 18, multiple unauthorized purchases were made using the victim’s credit card information. Investigators identified Taylor and Parker as the individuals who completed the transactions.
The victim provided a written statement confirming neither suspect had permission to possess or use her personal information.
Taylor also faces an unrelated criminal case. She is scheduled for an April 13 jury trial after being indicted earlier this year on a chemical endangerment of a child charge for allegedly exposing a minor to THC.
In a separate investigation, D’norris Jamel Tooks, 45, of Decatur, was arrested Saturday and charged with first-degree theft of property and third-degree possession of a forged instrument. He is being held on a $6,000 bond.
A detective’s affidavit states Tooks entered Redstone Federal Credit Union on Beltline Road Southwest on Jan. 8 and cashed a forged check totaling $11,741, using his Georgia driver’s license as identification. The check was later determined to be fraudulent.
Surveillance footage and the ID photo matched Tooks’ appearance, and detectives obtained a warrant after confirming he was the individual involved.
