Thyagarajanagar police have arrested three men in connection with the death of 45-year-old butcher Suresh, who succumbed to injuries sustained in a brutal assault. The accused include Velu (53), a hotel owner from Ashok Nagar, and his employees Stephen Raj (27) and Pratap (24), both from Tiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu.

The incident occurred after Suresh, Velu, and the two employees had been drinking together on Wednesday evening. While traveling in an autorickshaw with food parcels, Velu and his employees allegedly attacked Suresh at Tata Silk Farm using beer bottles and other objects, causing severe injuries.

Passersby found Suresh critically wounded and rushed him to Victoria Hospital. His wife, Parvathamma (40), reported receiving an emergency call at around 2 a.m., informing her of his hospitalization. Suresh had earlier expressed concerns about Velu and feared a possible attack.

Initially, the police registered the case as attempted murder, but after Suresh’s death, charges were upgraded to murder. The three accused have been remanded in judicial custody.

Police are continuing investigations to determine the motive and any additional accomplices in the attack.
