In a significant breakthrough, Delhi Police, in coordination with Mizoram Police, arrested Lalchhuanthangi (50), suspected to be the mastermind of a major transnational drug trafficking network connecting India and Myanmar.

The arrest was carried out following extensive surveillance and investigation that traced her involvement in multiple large-scale heroin seizures in Mizoram. The network, according to officials, is responsible for transporting heroin and methamphetamine tablets across the India-Myanmar border, which spans over 510 km across six Mizoram districts including Champhai, Siaha, Lawngtlai, Hnahthial, Saitual, and Serchhip.

In a separate operation, Joseph Lianthangpuia (42) of Chanakya Place, Delhi, was also apprehended in connection with a case registered at Saitual police station, Mizoram. This case involves the state’s largest-ever heroin seizure of 15 kg recovered from a vehicle on August 23.

The arrested woman is considered the key forward link in these operations and has a criminal record spanning multiple countries. She had previously been imprisoned in Thailand from 2014 to 2022 in a narcotics case and was on bail for a money scam in Kerala in 2023.

Following her arrest in Delhi, Lalchhuanthangi is being brought to Mizoram under transit remand for further investigation. Authorities aim to dismantle the broader drug network and trace the full supply chain of narcotics flowing through the border regions.

Officials emphasized the importance of continued vigilance and cooperation between state police forces to curb transnational drug trafficking in the region.
