LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) — Two men were arrested after a multi-agency drug investigation led to the execution of a federal search warrant at a home in South Laredo.
Authorities identified the suspects as 31-year-old Daniel Chaires and 29-year-old Luis Alejandro Chaires, who were charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana following the operation on Tuesday, November 4, at the 2600 block of Napoleon Street.
The warrant was executed at 5 p.m. by the Laredo Police Department Narcotics Unit, alongside the DEA, Department of Public Safety (DPS), U.S. Customs and Border Protection Special Response Team (CBP SRT), and the Laredo Police Department Special Operations Group.
The operation followed a multi-day investigation into alleged drug activity at the residence. Officers reported that CBP SRT entered the home and detained several individuals, including the two suspects and an unidentified male.
Authorities discovered multiple substances in different areas of the home, including:
Two bags containing 11.4 grams of a white, rocky substance
A single dose of 0.8 grams of a white, powdery substance
Two small doses totaling 1.5 grams of a white, rocky substance
A bag containing 1.9 ounces of a green, leafy substance
One male subject was taken into custody by U.S. Border Patrol and transported to their station.
Daniel Chaires and Luis Alejandro Chaires were booked at the Laredo Police Department and then transferred to Webb County Jail, where a magistrate judge set no bond.
