EDGECOMBE COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – A nearly year-long investigation into drug sales in Edgecombe County has led to an arrest.
Deputies from the Edgecombe Sheriff’s Office began investigating cocaine sales in the Mobile Home Estates area of Tarboro late last year. Through the investigation, they identified 47-year-old Demetrius Dickens, also known as BAM, as the suspect.
After hours of surveillance and investigative work, deputies obtained warrants to charge Dickens with multiple offenses, including:
Two counts of selling and delivering cocaine
Three counts of possession with intent to sell/deliver cocaine
Two counts of selling and delivering fentanyl
Two counts of possession with intent to sell/deliver fentanyl
Five counts of maintaining a dwelling to store a controlled substance
One count of possession of fentanyl
One count of possession of marijuana up to 1/2 ounce
Approximately one hour after the warrants were issued, deputies arrested Dickens during a traffic stop in Pinetops.
Dickens is being held on a $150,000 secured bond pending further proceedings.
