San Angelo Reporter Matt Cutrer Arrested on Drug Possession Charges

Cutrer, a reporter for San Angelo LIVE!, arrested; awaiting arraignment

by Sophia Bennett

San Angelo LIVE! has reported that one of its own, reporter and on-air personality Matt Cutrer, was arrested this afternoon on charges of drug possession. Details surrounding the arrest are not fully known as the information was discovered after the courts had closed for the day. Cutrer is currently being held in the Tom Green County Detention Center, awaiting his arraignment.

Matt joined the San Angelo LIVE! team in November 2023, quickly building strong relationships with colleagues. His arrest is unexpected, and it is not typical for incidents like these to occur during the hiring process. The news team takes great care when selecting new members, and Matt seemed like a great fit.

The publisher of San Angelo LIVE! has expressed concern for Matt’s well-being, describing addiction as a disease, and hopes that Cutrer will receive the help and support he needs. At this time, it is important to note that the standard for reporting remains unchanged—every employee, including reporters and on-air talent, is held to the same ethical standards, and transparency in reporting is key.

As with any arrest, Matt has been charged, but he has not yet been indicted. In the U.S., all citizens are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

San Angelo LIVE! will provide further updates as more information becomes available, including court documents, which are expected sometime tomorrow.
