Bengaluru police have arrested Kumar Rao, a delivery boy pursuing a diploma at a private college, for allegedly molesting a Brazilian model at her residence on October 17.
The incident reportedly occurred when the model had ordered groceries through a delivery app. According to police, Kumar Rao noticed that she was alone and allegedly made unwelcome advances and tried to touch her without consent. Alarmed, the model screamed and secured herself inside the house, prompting the accused to flee.
With the assistance of the model’s employer, a complaint was filed at RT Nagar Police Station. Acting promptly, authorities traced and arrested Kumar Rao. The delivery company has terminated his services and assured full cooperation with the investigation.
Preliminary investigations suggest the act was deliberate and premeditated, exploiting the delivery assignment to target the woman. The case has sparked concerns about the safety of women living alone and the need for stricter verification processes for gig workers.
Kumar Rao has been remanded in judicial custody, and police are continuing their investigation. Authorities have stated that background checks of delivery staff and other service personnel will be reviewed to prevent similar incidents.
