In a swift breakthrough, a special police team arrested eight individuals in connection with the murder of 44-year-old government school teacher Divyasree in Mulbagilu city. The tragic incident occurred on August 14 in Mutyalpet, where she was killed in her home in front of her daughter. Among the main suspects are Ranjit, Rahul, and Nandish, along with five others, all reportedly from the local area.
Kolar Superintendent of Police B. Nikhil revealed that the accused had plotted to forcibly occupy Divyasree’s house. When she resisted, the assailants threatened her and ultimately killed her by slashing her throat with a knife. A case has been registered at Mulbagilu Nagar Police Station, with investigations ongoing.
The murder unfolded before Divyasree’s daughter, who was studying on the floor when the intruders broke in. She narrowly escaped harm by locking herself in a room and immediately calling her father, Padmanabha. Authorities noted that all valuables were left behind, suggesting that the motive was not theft but possibly a personal vendetta or a contracted killing.
Divyasree taught at a government school in Mudianur village, Mulbagilu taluk. Her husband, Padmanabha, works in business and finance, while their daughter, Nisha, is pursuing a BE degree at Reva University.
Local MLA Samriddi Manjunath visited the crime scene, expressing shock and urging police to take prompt action. The MLA also raised concerns about rising drug trafficking in the area and called for stricter measures to ensure community safety.
